Carved Bone Handle

A turned bone handle with rounded copper alloy fitting at one end. Seventeenth century in origin, this carved kitchen utensil would have originally been owned by a member of the household. This artefact has been carved with motifs including flowers, depicted in art throughout history due to their symbolism. The overall impression of the carvings suggests these were made by a young person, due to their crude, sketched appearance.
