‘Rose’ farthing of Charles I

Hammered copper alloy Rose farthing (¼ penny) minted in the reign of Charles I (1625-1649).

On the Obverse (which has been severely corroded) the text should read; CAROLVS DG MAG BRI, with the centre image being a single-arched crown with crossed sceptres almost to outer circle. The Reverse reads FRA ET HIB REX. The centre image is a single plain rose with a single-arched crown above, this face is well preserved.
